Government Senior College, Agege is a Single Sex Girls School that was established in 1974 by the Lagos State Military Administrator, Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson. The current population of the school is one thousand, nine hundred and seventeen (1,917) and the learners population streamed into SS1- 862, SS2-584 and SS3 -471. The staff population inclusive of one Principal, and two Vice Principals, forty-eight teaching staff and four non-teaching staff with Four ad hoc staff (two teachers engaged on part-time on the bill of the Principal), a Sanitation Manager and a staff as school Gardener (all on the Principal's bill). The Teacher-Pupil ratio in the school is 1:34 The Qualification statistics of the teachers include 45 teachers with Bachelors Degrees, 1 with HND and 4 with Master Degrees. The percentage of the teachers on professional qualifications with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is 89%. The percentage of Teachers exposed to continuous professionalization from 2021 to date is 80%. The school is located at Ile Jide Bus Stop along Old Ipaja Road, Orile Agege, Agege, Lagos.The school shares its boundaries with Lagos State N.Y.S.C Orientation Camp, Lagos State Examination and Scholarship Board, Teachers Registration Council and Iyana Ipaja garage with bridges.
The school shares its boundaries with Lagos State N.Y.S.C Orientation Camp, Lagos State Examination and Scholarship Board, Teachers Registration Council and Iyana Ipaja garage with bridges. The school is accessible through the Orile Agege, Mulero, Funmilayo areas of Agege and Iyana Ipaja. The learners are mostly from middle to low income backgrounds and come mainly from Igbo ethnic group and higher percentage from Yoruba ethnic group and closely followed by Hausa ethnic group. The school occupies a fairly large expanse of land of about 12 acres and clearly demarcated by a well painted fence from the neighboring schools that include Government Junior College, Girls Junior High School, Girls Senior High School and Girls Comprehensive Junior College. Government Senior College, Agege can boast of functional laboratories for Sciences like Chemistry, Physics and Biology, a farm for Agricultural Science, a Food and Nutrition kitchen, a fish pond and three active ICT laboratories for E-Learning , E-Library and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Centre. The school has three interactive boards and the plan to completely digitalize teaching and learning in the school is ongoing.
The school presently has over 130 computers for ICT teaching and learning in the school. The school has witnessed tremendous renovations from the state government through the persistent influence of the Principal and combined efforts of the old students with the community leaders and notable politicians in the school's community. At the moment, the State Government has completed and delivered a prototype building of 16+1 as part of the infrastructural development in the school. The school's collaboration with NGOs is also on going. For instance, the school recently received two interactive boards from two Rotary Clubs, won scholarships from seedtime and blossom. The corporate collaboration is an on-going strategy of enhancing teaching and learning in the school. The schools communal relationship is superb and the school management visit to the Royal Fathers in the community is a routine exercise. The school has day and night guards as part of the school's security surveillance and completely fenced to check the movements in and out of the school. The schools main sources of power are PHCN, Generators and Solar. Lastly, the Principal of the school was rated as the Best Administrator in Lagos state for the 2021/2022 academic session with a brand new SUV Jeep car to show for it.

Government senior college agege was awarded the best senior secondary school in Education District 1 on 4th July 2024.
Government senior college agege came 3rd position of the stem quiz competition at the international Girls-in-Ict day celebration which was organised by eBusiness Life Communication Ltd. on May 2024.
